Located in its main garden surrounded by enchanted woodland, the gorgeous new wedding space at Jesmond Dene House invites couples to take their big day celebrations into the great outdoors. Sheltered by lush, leafy green trees and enjoying spectacular views across Jesmond Dene, brides and grooms will marry beneath an elegant outdoor structure, joined by their celebrant and witnesses. Just beyond is beautiful bench seating for up to 100 friends and family to be a part of the all-important vows and promises. Alternatively, couples can choose to marry on the Jesmond Dene House terrace, dubbed a ‘botanical paradise’.
To make its outdoor weddings extra special, the team at Jesmond Dene House work closely with highly-experienced celebrant Barbara Gubbins, who was recently awarded a CBE from the Queen. Barbara’s services come as part of the wedding package, with couples able to meet her numerous times prior to the wedding so that she can get a feel for their individual relationship and personalities. Shaping each ceremony so that it’s unique to the couple, a blessing ceremony by Barbara is much more personal than a standard civil ceremony, featuring stories and highlights from a couple’s time together.
Keen to make the most of its stunning space, the garden also houses a charming outdoor bar, serving ‘bottles & bubbles’ to accompany couples’ canapes for refreshing drinks receptions. Furthermore, there is a BBQ area and firepit, which offer barbequed banquets with fresh salads and homemade accompaniments. The space will be versatile throughout the year, providing a memorable setting for long, light summer evenings sipping on cocktails, but also for wrapping up in the winter months and toasting marshmallows on the firepit.
The grounds of Jesmond Dene House are perfect for creating a garden party atmosphere with live music, garden games and magical festoon lighting. Not forgetting that the venue boasts Jesmond Dene as its back garden; with flowing rivers, quaint bridges, waterfall and an old watermill – the perfect place for idyllic wedding photography.
When booking the outdoor wedding space, brides and grooms can choose to mix up the locations for their day, taking advantage of the style and elegance of main house too. Couples can marry outside amongst leafy greens, or in the grandeur of the Great Hall; enjoy drinks and canapes in the gardens, then take a seat inside the Hall for the wedding breakfast; huddle around the firepit for an alfresco evening feast, then slip back indoors to party the night away before resting in one of Jesmond Dene House’s boutique-style bedrooms.
