Period Drama: Caroline Castigliano x Howsham Hall

Julia Braime

In this double exclusive, we unveil internationally acclaimed bridal designer Caroline Castigliano’s 2018 collection and never seen before Yorkshire wedding venue, Howsham Hall.

Inspired by the stunning setting and content, this powerful editorial – styled for UNVEILED Magazine Issue 08 – lets the unique venue and beautiful gowns shine, tying the shots together with a patriotic theme throughout.

Caroline Castigliano, Designer

My signature style is understated, effortless glamour – clean lines with contemporary touches. A Caroline Castigliano bride understands fashion but is not ruled by it, she is passionate about quality and loves classic styling.

Howsham Hall, A Dine Venue

A newly renovated Jacobean Grade I listed venue, Howsham Hall exudes luxury and is ideal for couples searching for an exclusive and secluded venue, where they can enjoy a full weekend of undisrupted celebrations with their guests.

New to the Yorkshire venue market, the Hall offers a uniquely stunning setting, complete with exceptional food, drinks and service, delivered by hospitality specialists Dine. The team are experienced in making events super special, which means the level of service offered at Howsham Hall is truly top notch.

Jane Beadnell, Photographer

I’m a UK and destination fine art wedding photographer based in Yorkshire. I’m a romantic and a perfectionist and I love nothing more than capturing the story of each couple’s special day. The secret glances, the pretty details, the laughter and those little tears (of happiness) and all the bits that make each and every wedding day so special.

Karen Peacock, Flowers & Finery

Flowers and Finery is a specialist florist and events styling business. The ‘flowers’ part is almost self-explanatory – I create sumptuous flowers for weddings and venues. The ‘finery’ comes from the huge range of pretty extras I stock to help create the image couples want for their day.

The brief for the Howsham Hall shoot was for a bridal bouquet using cotton and taupe as the theme with a touch of blue for contrast. I opted for a loose style and classic flowers of the English country house look; cappuccino and peach Garden Roses with creamy Peonies, Hellibores for movement and Queen Anne’s Lace for a touch of delicacy; all held together by pale blue Hydrangea, creating a generous bouquet that worked well with the proportions of the setting.

Anna ‘Cordelia’ Mason, Hair & Makeup Artist

I’m an award-winning makeup artist with more than 15 years’ experience.

Working on the style of the dresses, I put together a glamorous, polished look for this shoot, with the odd pop of colour for added interest.
I used an intense, multi-faceted eyeshadow from Makeup Geek called ‘Steam Punk’, keeping the base simple and fresh with Estée Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation and Rimmel True Match Highlighting Concealer. Minimal Benefit Dandelion Blush was applied on the highest parts of the cheeks. To create an on-trend, deep, matte lip I mixed lip balm with an intense burnt red eyeshadow and applied with a dense stippling brush.

We went ‘film star’ glam with the hair, Set in large waves and pinned at the nape of the neck. I used lots of Batiste dry shampoo at the roots to create texture and finished with Elnett hairspray.
